a little too fluffy and a recipe

Last Friday kicked off the beginning of alittletoofluffy - it's a friendly, six week weight loss competition with 74 of my new besties on instagram. I tried to participate last January, but then, as we all know, I found myself to be with child. 
So, instead of defluffing, I got REALLY fluffy, and here we are. 
Time to shed the baby weight. 

Because I am nursing Ivah, and I am her sole source of nutrition at this point, that's my top priority. 
But, let's be honest, I was using her as an excuse to eat 14 Christmas cookies in one sitting instead of two or three. 
And the scale wasn't moving. Weird how that works.
This is great motivation for me to make some healthy changes and get things back on track. Even if I don't win the grand prize, there is something so motivating and inspiring about working together toward a lofty goal with a community of people. 

I am a foodie. Not in a pretentious sort of way, because I love all food. 
Braised short rib gnocchi? Yes. Rice Krispie treats? Yes. A thousand times, yes.
So switching to healthier choices, lowering my calorie intake and exercising more is all on my list, 
but I am not one to completely cut out the good stuff, or I will fail before I even begin. 
One sweet treat that has helped me so far is this little shake.
Let me say before I share: I do not like bananas
Unless they are in banana bread or some other delicious baked good, I'm not buying. 
But this? This is delish.

It might not taste exactly like a rich chocolate shake that rings in around 600 calories, but it is pretty darn close
And it only has 150! Go get your blender.

All you need is unsweetened cocoa powder, unsweetened coconut milk (or any milk of your choosing), and frozen sliced banana. Optionally, you could add in a little peanut or almond butter for an extra boost.

I like to slice my bananas and divide them up in snack bags, toss them in the freezer, and they're ready to go for any smoothie. It's the perfect substitute for ice, and provides a nice, creamy consistency.

Throw one tablespoon of cocoa powder, once cup of coconut milk, and 2/3 of a sliced banana into your blender. Blend until smooth, pour into a cute glass with a cute straw (it helps), and enjoy. All natural, dairy free, sugar free, gluten free - a delightful little treat.

  1. Yes! This saves me every afternoon when I want cookies :) Only I add instant coffee and sneak in a cup of spinach... It looks gross but I honestly don't mind the taste if you blend it really well!

  2. I'm with you, I'm not a fan of banana's too often. The taste can be overpowering.

    The past few weeks have been difficult for me to eat my veggies- at all. It's a bummer because I was doing a fairly good job up until now in my pregnancy. Making smoothies was one way to get those nutrients. I might just have to try yours and Ashley's smoothies.

  5. Love the idea of chopping up bananas and putting them in snack bags! I've tried freezing them "by the bunch" and the black bananas that await me when I open the freezer, totally freak me out!
