push presents!

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and I'm trying not to freak out about being a mother of five next month. Nick is awesome and has told me that after birthing three babies, I deserve a little something... he keeps asking for ideas and has even made plans to get in touch with some of my bffs for inspiration. He's quite a guy, isn't he?

Have you ever thought about giving or receiving a "push present"?

Push presents are one of the latest social trends geared specifically toward moms and moms-to-be. Along with “babymoons,” push presents are growing in popularity within the U.S., particularly with celebrities. While we all can’t get (or may not even want) a flashy, expensive new car or shopping spree, there are still tons unique push presents for moms-to-be.

Jeweled Push Presents
While jewelry items are the go-to gifts when it comes to push presents, there are many pieces other than ostentatious, over-the-top accessories. Some unique and inexpensive gifts include fancy, intricate metal dog tags with the names of the parents and their new bundle of joy, lockets with a solo picture of the new baby or a photo of the entire family and their newborn, and charm bracelets with a rattle or some other charm that signifies the birth of a baby. If you want to go with something a bit more intimate and personal, try a ring bearing the mother’s birthstone and/or that of her new baby. Eternity rings, which are typically given to a spouse on a special occasion such as a milestone anniversary, make excellent push gifts because they are embody the endless love between the giver and the receiver. Today, these rings still carry the same meaning and are still used as milestone markers in a couple’s relationship. Whether you opt to upgrade her wedding band or craft a new band with help from 77 Diamonds and other jewelry retailers.

Vacation Push Presents
Although you may think traveling with a newborn would be a hassle, a family vacation with an infant in tow is a lot easier than you think. Newborns spend most of their time sleeping, which makes flights, dinners, and relaxation time a breeze. This may be a challenge if your family is big like mine; however, a family trip to visit relatives that live a distance away can be a nice break from your usual surroundings (it also frees you up from some of your mommy duties as your friends and family will be more than happy to lend a hand). Not only is a family holiday an excellent way to relax after the pregnancy frenzy and before heavy-duty motherhood sets in, it provides you and your spouse with the opportunity to bond with your new baby.

Push Party

What better way to introduce your new child to your family and friends than with a party? Not only is this a great way to welcome your infant into the world, it gives everyone who was awaiting the birth of your little one the opportunity to meet him or her. Whether you gather a few close friends and family members together for a meet-and-greet with the new baby or throw a larger dinner party or cookout with family, friends, and neighbors, hosting a party as a push present is the perfect gift for you and your family after nine long months of waiting for the latest member of your tribe to arrive.
