{thankful} for generosity

I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but seriously. Since bringing Frances home it has been one gift after another from people I know well, and people I've barely met.
I have bloggy friends sending gifts, (super cute) clothes they're passing on, gift cards, well wishes, endless encouragement and support. I have real life friends doing the same, dropping off meals, offering to watch the boys, to do whatever we need. My family is amazing... my mom and sister organizing meals and feeding us for the past few weeks. This weekend they're throwing me a little shower to welcome Frances into the family.

It's amazing what one beautiful little life can do to reach so many.

Tonight I was working on some shop stuff with Parenthood on in the background.
Do you watch it? Is there any show on television that can illicit so many tears? I mean, I think I ugly cry on a weekly basis.

Tonight was no different. Toward the end of the hour, they showed the adoption ceremony for an eight year old boy being welcomed into the Braverman clan. When the judge asked the parents if they understood the promise they were making, the said yes. And then each family member - grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins - all chimed in with promises of their own. And I cried. Like a big crazy baby, I wept. I am crying as I write this.
The beauty of an entire family, of a community, gathering around one precious life,
and not only welcoming them, but promising. Promising to love, to protect, to be silly and make memories and live life together. It really is one of the most beautiful, heart wrenching, wonderful experiences of life. I get to look forward to that with Frances, and I hold that perfect day with Eddie in my heart forever.

So this week I'm thankful for the amazing group of people in our lives, here and spread all around the country, who love us, love our children, and bless us abundantly. I'm thankful beyond description when I see the unending love and devotion my family has for Eddie, and now for sweet Frances.

Thank you.
