it's recipe week, y'all!

Hey friends, I have a treat for you over the next week or so.
I have five lovely ladies who are going to share with you their very favorite recipes.
You get some fantastic new food ideas, plus you get to meet
some seriously fantastic girls!

Hello LLW readers!
My name is Amanda, and I'm the chica behind Dragonflight Dreams (both blog and shop). I was an army brat that "settled" in Ohio for most of life as a youngster, before moving to Austin after college and becoming an honorary Texan. I freelance full-time as a graphic designer, and pursue screenprinting and blogging in my off-time, if there is such a thing.
In a nutshell: I'm a designer by trade, writer at heart, cynic by disposition, optimist by practice, and hopeless romantic by default.
I am: notoriously goofy, occasionally sarcastic (I’m known for my surprising one-liner zingers), independent, non-drama appreciator, not very ‘girly’ in the stereotypical sense, a semi-strict grammar nazi, enjoyer of good conversation and clever wit, somewhat stubborn, have a tendency to overanalyze things that I care about deeply, and my mom and sisters call me ‘the sweet one.’
I’m a cynic/realist trying to be more of an optimist.
‘Morning’ is a dirty word to me. If you ask for the brutal truth, I will give it to you (and sometimes give it without you asking).
I can be shy and quiet at first, but become increasingly outgoing the more I know you - this remains true even in the digital world.
I’m definitely weird, but in a quirky/endearing way rather than creepy (or so I hope/have been told).

My blog is an ongoing exercise in writing and sharing things I love. It can cover everything from recipes to books to outfits to travel to screenprinting and crafty projects to bits about my life to... you get the idea. It's a life blog. My shop offers (at the moment) a variety of goods that I've screenprinted by hand: t-shirts and tanks, art prints, and tote bags. It's a slowly expanding creative adventure. :)
Come join me, won't you?

This is a recipe I learned from my mother, and it is one of my absolute favorites. These muffins are quick to make, and just completely delicious. I tend to make them more in the fall/winter (hence this being my October Follow Fest post! – see below recipe for more info), because they are exactly perfect for breakfast when warmed up just a smidge so the chocolate chips go all melty again. But they are good year-round, too – for breakfast, or dessert, or just a snack. And if you’re the type who likes to sample the batter before baking the goods, have at it – it’s just as yummy in that form. :)
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
3 mashed bananas*
2 eggs (mix up before adding)
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
Semi-sweet chocolate chips- 1 cup or more, as desired

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray pans with non-stick cooking spray.
Mash bananas together with sugar and butter. (I find the texture of those two makes mashing easier, instead of bananas just sliding around the bowl).
Add flour, eggs, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
Add chocolate chips. Mix well.
Spoon batter into muffin slots so each is 2/3 full.
Cook until golden brown (~12 minutes if small muffins, ~20 if cupcake size)
*Overripe bananas are the best for this, as they mash easier, so if you buy a bunch, wait until they are brown/black on the outside. Also, make sure they are good-sized bananas, not small ones, or the muffins will be dry.

(comments are turned off so you can go say hello to Amanda and thank her for this amazing recipe!)
