home study: done!

Ahhhhhhh.  That's me sighing with relief at one more huge thing checked off our list.  Today was the home study.

First let me say, we have never had a more organized house or cleaner closets.  Ever.
Secondly, that is all thanks to Nick who was an organizing machine for about 72 hours.
Thirdly, she didn't look in our closets.
But it doesn't matter, because it is so nice to know that everything has a place and we know exactly where that place is, and I am really thankful that my husband stuck to his guns and got the job done!  I helped, but he really is the man.

Anyway, you didn't come here to read about closets.  The home study was great.  It was about 90 minutes - mostly us going more in depth on a lot of the questions we'd answered in our autobiographies.  Questions about discipline, faith, our activities, etc.  And she was great!  Really friendly and supportive, and offered a listening ear at any point during the process, even when her official duties are all wrapped up.  We are really thankful for such a smooth experience thus far.

So now she writes up our report and will send it to us for a final review.  That is a little ways off because we are going to have to wait on our background check with the FBI (which goes into her report), and that could be up to eight long weeks.  We're keeping our fingers crossed for a shorter wait, but not getting our hopes too high.

It feels good!  Can't believe that we are this far in... We'll keep you all in the loop.  Thanks for your interest, support and prayers.

Hope you can enjoy every moment of this Advent season and truly experience the peace and joy that God has for you!

  1. Carina,
I'm so happy for you and Nick. This decision to adopt is so wonderful! Good luck with all the trials that accompany this process. Peiter and I may be asking your advice on this whole process.

  2. Oh my goodness, one step closer to me getting a second grandbaby! Glad that part is over, and really glad your closets are clean. I had been worrying about that.
